Rubbermaid
Medication Cart

The crowding endemic in American hospitals prompts new solutions for managing patient records and medications, and for easing the burden of work on nurses. Rubbermaid’s Medication Cart aims to do just that by providing a portable platform for nurses to securely store medical records and medications for up to 12 patients. D2M’s involvement in the Medication Cart began at the inception of electrical design, with the production of the control system for an AC powered cart. Our relationship continued on to deliver power and control systems for both AC and Laptop versions of the product. Rubbermaid and D2M are working on a new partnership to integrate design and manufacturing services in order to provide a seamless production experience.

The Details
In the original AC-powered Rubbermaid Medication Cart, D2M designed the control system that manages movement of the cart, user interface, and drawer security system with an existing power supply. Further work on the Medication Cart product line involved D2M in the design and integration of a new power supply for a Self Powered (DC-powered) Device. Later work involved a redesign of the AC and Laptop versions in response to use feedback and field performance.
