Justarrive developed an internet appliance that automated ticketing and data collection service for venue owners. This service provided seamless ticket purchasing for sports fans, an integrated fan reward system, and detailed data collection. Justarrive needed a physical manifestation for their internet appliance so they asked to D2M to design the electrical and mechanical systems for it. D2M completed this system integration in the short time frame required and release the product for low volume manufacturing. Prototype devices were installed in San Francisco’s PacBell Park.
The Details
The JustArrive Entrance Unit was designed to automate ticket purchasing and printing. The system required integration of keypad, barcode reader, and a magnetic strip reader with a LCD display, ticket printer, power supply with battery backup, and network terminal. D2M designed boards to support these subsystems and an AC power system with battery backup. Also the outdoor, high traffic environment for the Entrance Unit required extensive ruggedization and water proofing of the mechanical design. Also throughout this project there was constant attention paid to manufacturability of the device.
